The OPTES guide

Every step with a picture of the app itself, from the download to your first project. The numbers on the pictures match the text under them.

1Download and install

OPTES Code for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) is downloaded from the official site only: optes3.com. Do not download it from any other link.

The download section on optes3.com: the download button, the requirements and the SHA-256 line

  1. 1. “Download OPTES for Windows”: starts the installer download.
  2. 2. The supported Windows versions, the file size and the version.
  3. 3. The SHA-256 line: the file's fingerprint, and the SHA256SUMS file.

Check the fingerprint (optional, recommended): open PowerShell in your Downloads folder, run the command below and compare the result with the SHA-256 line on the site. If a single character differs, do not run the file; download it again.

Get-FileHash .\OPTES-Code-*-win-x64.exe -Algorithm SHA256

Windows SmartScreen: because the app is new, Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” on the first run. This is a general notice for recent apps, not a sign that the file is harmful.

  1. Click “More info”.
  2. Check that the file name starts with OPTES-Code and that you downloaded it from optes3.com.
  3. Click “Run anyway”.

The installer: OPTES Code installs for your Windows account only; no administrator rights are needed.

  1. Choose the install folder, or keep the suggested one, then click Install.
  2. Wait for the progress bar to finish (usually a minute or less).
  3. Keep “Run OPTES CODE” ticked and click Finish. A shortcut is added to the desktop and the Start menu.

2First launch and sign-in

The app opens straight on the workspace in guest mode, so you can try it right away. Signing in makes your plan, usage and purchases follow your account on any device; your chats and files stay on your computer.

  3. 3. “Not now”: keep going as a guest and sign in later.

3A tour of the workspace

Everything is on one screen: the sidebar on the right, the composer in the middle and the chat tools under it.

8Working on a project

11Troubleshooting and support

Windows says “Windows protected your PC”.

Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”, after checking the file came from optes3.com and its fingerprint matches (section 1).

“OPTES 1.0 is not available right now”.

The service is busy or being updated; you do not need to do anything. Try again shortly, or pick another model.

“You reached your session limit”.

The session limit renews by itself after the time in the message. Need more now? “Buy credit” or upgrade (section 5).

Where are the minimise, maximise and close buttons?

On Arabic Windows they sit at the top left of the window and no longer cover the app's buttons (since 1.2.6).

Sign-in is stuck on “Waiting for the browser”.

Finish in the browser that opened. If you closed it, click “Open the page again”, or “Cancel” and try again.

The update failed.

The reason shows under “Updates”, e.g. a dropped connection or a fingerprint mismatch (the file is deleted, never installed). Click “Try again”, or download the new version from the site.
